The Board of Elections is a bipartisan office comprised of two appointed Commissioners representing the state’s major political parties, and equal party representation in all facets of the Board.
Primary Elections take place to determine the candidates to be voted on in the General Election.
The winners of the General Election will take these offices starting in January.

Local Primary Elections* will be held on June 27, 2023. The early voting period is June 17-25, 2023.
*You must be enrolled in the Republican Party and live in the town of Spencer to be eligible to vote in the 2023 Primary Election. All other party primaries are uncontested. Polls are closed in the towns of Barton, Berkshire, Candor, Newark Valley, Nichols, Owego, Richford, and Tioga.
General Election Day will be held on November 7, 2023. Any registered voter may vote. The early voting period is October 28 - November 5, 2023.

You can complete an Accessible version of the New York State Voter Registration Form on-line by clicking on the link below, typing the necessary information and selecting the appropriate boxes.
New York State ensures that voters who are visually impaired or otherwise disabled are still able to vote and can vote independently. Voters with such a disability who wish to vote in person during Early Voting or on Election Day may vote independently using the Ballot Marking Device (BMD) attached to the voting machine. Each poll site will have at least one BMD available for use.
Voters with a visual impairment that require a ballot with accessible features may apply using the online Accessible Absentee Ballot Application portal: https://absenteeballot.elections.ny.gov/home/accessible or download the Accessible Electronic Ballot Application.

The documents below list all candidate petitions that have been filed with the Tioga County Board of Elections to date for the 2023 elections. Petitions filed will be updated daily during each petition filing period.
Filing Dates for Designation Petitions are April 3-6. *Update 4/3/2023: State legislation has extended the filing deadline to April 10th. Signatures may still only be collected thru April 6th.
Filing Dates for Independent Petitions are May 23-30. (BOE will be closed May 29 for Memorial Day)
The maps found below represent the district boundaries in Tioga County following 2022 redistricting, effective on January 1, 2023. Additional congressional, assembly, and senatorial district maps may be found HERE.
